Staff Meeting around Learner Agency led by Lori (DP)

On November 10th I attended a TOD that was based around the new NZ curriculum refresh - with a focus on English. It was very interesting.
Over the past few terms we have had staff meetings around the new RE curriculum.
This looks like a great, easy and straight forward resource to use.

Loved this meeting - it was great to see where the Ministry is heading! I loved the Maths/Statistics Curriculum as it was specific and easy to understand and follow.
This was very informative. I found my workshops around the adolescent brain very informative and helpful for how to look after our younger students as they head towards this time in their lives.
Meeting fellow colleagues and having small chats about how they do things in their class/school was also very helpful and interesting.
Over the past two terms we have had some amazing PD for in the classroom and our own well being.
It has been a great reminder on how to add Health & PE into other curriculum areas. I enjoyed adapting my Writing lesson to include shuttle runs and watching the students interact and relish in an active lesson and not just doing a worksheet.
Today we learnt about the 3 different types of learners
- Supported Learner
- Self-Managing Learner
- Self - Directed Learner
This was a great session as we were advised of a variety of online tools/websites that you can use within th classroom setting and incororapte to online learning during this ectended lockdown
Jamboards
During the session it was great to be able to acknowledge where we are already using it and where we could look to extend add it. An example of this was we use it with our Traffic Light System with Follow Up tasks in Math, but can we use it in other curriculum areas i.e Writing or RE
During the Breakout Session with my team we decided to implement
- a "DROP IN" session for students after the their online seession where they can come back online to work or ask questions
- create a shared language that we can use across Ako 2 so that no matter what teacher the students are with they can understand and know what we are talking about.
DMIC Fractions/ Percentages Online Workshop
Today I tuned into a amazing workshop with teachers from all around NZ who use DMIC in their classrooms.
The aim of the workshop was to look in detail at the NZ Maths Achievement Objectives NA3-1 and NA3-5 and to break them down into workable Learning Outcomes for lessons. We then looked at a variety of word problems and decided what Learning Outcomes these problems could have associated with them. From there we had a word problem that we had to re-write.
All of this work was done in break out rooms (in Zoom) with 4 or 5 other teachers. It was an amazing experience for many reasons:
1. working and getting to know other teachers from around the country.
2. Practising and working through how you would plan from starting at the big picture right down to the classroom level. (this was an amazing insight and great practise)
3. Coming away with a varietty of word problems and Learning Outcomes that can be used in our planning and classrooms
Here is a link to the workshop document that we walked away with
Today I travelled up to Ponsonby to attend the New to Catholic School Course.
It was great to see what is expected, the different types of prayer & the Primary RE Curriculum

Today we worked together to highlight our Year 6 Target students so we are aware of the students that we want to highlight and move to reach their potential.
We discussed the ways that we can work with them in the classroom to accelerate their progress.
Great staff meeting around how AI can help with teaching. From my perspective it helps you get the bones of a plan and then you can add you...
